“Ultrafast dynamics with intense radiation sources”

The school will provide an overview on the generation of intense laser sources extending from the infrared to the extreme ultraviolet and X-ray spectral range. State-of-the-art applications of such sources to the time-resolved investigation of electronic and nuclear dynamics in atoms and molecules will be introduced and discussed by leading experts of the field.

Travel information (how to get there)
Heraklion is directly connected to Athens International Airport with daily, domestic flights run by Aegean Airlines as well as 2-4 direct flights per day arriving from Thessaloniki (SKG).
There are also other direct scheduled airline connections from major European cities as well as many charter flights from most European countries.
Alternatively, one can use the ferry-boat connecting Heraklion with the harbour of Piraeus (Athens).
Connection is offered by Minoan Lines & ANEK Lines and the overnight trip takes about 7 hours.
Arrival by Air: When you arrive at Heraklion airport, transfer to the conference site, St’ Nicolas Bay Hotel at Agios Nikolaos, is possible by:
- The MEDEA school bus, leaving from FORTH on the 17th at 15:30 and from the Nikos Kazantzakis Airport of Heraklion at 16:00.
- Public bus to Agios Nikolaos http://www.ktelherlas.gr/?lang=en (KTEL):
Public bus service every 30 minutes from the airport exit. Once you arrive in Agios Nikolaos bus station take a taxi to the hotel/conference venue, approximate cost 6-8€. Last bus to Agios Nikolaos departs at 23:00 hrs.
Price: 7,70 € – Journey time: about 1h 30 min.
- Taxi: (approximate travel time 1hour) can be booked through several sites on the internet for prices 69-72 €.
- Shared Taxi: this is an option of 80,00€ per ride offered by MITOS, giving the possibility MITOS to arrange sharing of the taxi by 2 to 4 participants. For this option it is necessary to take contact with MITOS at the following e-mail: email@example.com
The school is free of charge and applications from young fellows (Ph.D. Students and Post. Docs) from neighbouring scientific fields are strongly encouraged.
Additional Steps for the ESRs that have not attended the Milan Winter School:
Specify in the online form (step 1) the additional day and make sure to arrive on Sunday October 16th.

Financial support will be provided by Laser Lab Europe to selected students. The support will be in the form of free accomodation (full-board accomodation) for the entire duration of the school at the Saint Nicolas bay resort hotel – Agios Nikolaos, Crete. Travel expenses will not be covered.
Two poster sessions are planned during the meeting. The participant are encouraged to present a poster about their current research activity.
